Angel Claudio Award

 

The first person so-honored is Angel Richards Vizcaya in the area of serving as a House Mother and supporting the efforts of the Houses of Greater Newark, fashion design, modeling, HIV/AIDS Education and Prevention, and health care, among other community concerns.

Circle of Friends Awards is a non-profit project created by Dean James Credle following his retirement from Rutgers Newark to further the interests he pursued during his tenure there from 1968 to 2005. Circle of Friends Awards continues to receive support from various entities in our community, across the US and internationally via the Netherlands. Circle of Friends Awards honors students’ work in various community oriented endeavors and services representing diverse community needs by granting scholarships. We had donated more than $70,000.00 to individuals in Greater Newark, New Jersey, across the county and several countries around the world, including Africa. The total amount of each award are be based on the total of funds collected each year and/ or the funds contributed via other sources with each awardee receiving a minimum of $1,000.00. Each Circle of Friends Awards Scholarship is in honor of role models whom provided a wide range of community services and contribution of key community members having a history of positive efforts in Greater Newark.

JanHerman Veenker Award

 

This award targets students engaged in diverse community efforts at a high level, including international students, who are using their talents for excellence in community development, not only here in the US, but other parts of the world, especially Africa.

 

 

Dean James Credle Award

 

This award recognizes students providing outstanding services to Greater Newark communities in the areas of support for veterans and dependents, students with dis-abilities, social justice, human dignity and diversity
